Girl Squad Camp by Into the Wild

During the December holidays, I wanted J to spend less time on screens, and a bit more time outdoors — not just parks and playgrounds, but something a little wilder, a little more challenging. So I signed her up for Girl Squad camp by Into The Wild.

It’s not a camp-camp in the traditional sense — just one morning — but it was more than enough for her to come away wide-eyed and beaming.

She was unsure at first, but once it started, there was no looking back. She got to saw wood, use a drill, and learn how to handle real tools—things I never imagined she’d get to try at this age. But the highlight? Seeing a giant centipede up close and not freaking out. She was so proud.

She also climbed a tree for the first time, after getting stuck at a low branch for a while. When she made it to the top, she felt super duper proud. And she finally got to try something she’s been asking about for ages —toasting marshmallows over a fire, just like what she’s read about in stories before.

All in all, one wild morning well spent! We’re already looking forward to joining the next one!

Into The Wild runs a variety of outdoor camps beyond Girl Squad, including wilderness survival adventures, ocean safety sessions, and even fire-building or cave experiences. Each one is thoughtfully designed to help kids step out of their comfort zones, explore nature, and build real-world skills — all while having an absolute blast.

Stars on Orchard Road brings readers into the magic of Christmas in Singapore, where Orchard Road glows with festive lights and sparkling stars. Through a young child’s eyes, the story captures simple holiday rituals — strolling under the lights, soaking in the excitement, and sharing the season with family.

When I first picked up this book, it brought back memories of my own childhood — strolling along Orchard Road during Christmas. Now, I do the same walk with my kids. This picture book is a warm, celebratory read that captures a uniquely Singaporean Christmas — one that has grown into a tradition of its own, and one that can now be passed down, page by page, to the next generation.
