Review: DIY Pineapple Tart Kit by Tiny Hoomans

One of our favourite memories from this past Chinese New Year? Making pineapple tarts together as a family — messy fingers, buttery dough and all.

We were gifted a lovely DIY baking kit from Tiny Hoomans, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The kit included everything we needed: pineapple jam, tart dough, a kid-friendly tart press, and super clear, and beautifully designed step-by-step instructions. It even came with an angbao bag, aiyo so cute!

The kids loved rolling out the dough, pressing the moulds and (of course) sneaking little tastes of the jam. I loved that it became a meaningful way to talk about festive traditions while keeping their little hands busy. Plus, the smell of freshly baked pineapple tarts filling the house? Pure joy.

They weren’t perfect, but they were made with heart — and that made them even sweeter.

Thank you, Tiny Hoomans, for the hands-on fun and festive cheer.

Definitely a CNY memory we’ll treasure.

Stars on Orchard Road brings readers into the magic of Christmas in Singapore, where Orchard Road glows with festive lights and sparkling stars. Through a young child’s eyes, the story captures simple holiday rituals — strolling under the lights, soaking in the excitement, and sharing the season with family.

When I first picked up this book, it brought back memories of my own childhood — strolling along Orchard Road during Christmas. Now, I do the same walk with my kids. This picture book is a warm, celebratory read that captures a uniquely Singaporean Christmas — one that has grown into a tradition of its own, and one that can now be passed down, page by page, to the next generation.
