We’ve always loved The Artground at Goodman Road, and recently made our way there again for the Masak Masak exhibition. It was an absolute treat — both literally and playfully. Designed by the creative minds at The Merry Men Works, the space transformed familiar local delights into larger-than-life play installations.

Both kids were instantly drawn to the whimsical setups: climbing up a biscuit wall, and sliding down a curry puff slide. It was a delightful fusion of art and play, where food became the medium for imagination.
One of the highlights was the interactive hawker area on the baby stage. Here, children could engage in pretend play at realistic hawker set-ups, mimicking the bustling energy of local food stalls. It was heartwarming to see both of them “cooking” and serving dishes, immersing themselves in the role of little hawkers.
The exhibition not only provided a fun-filled afternoon but also offered a nostalgic journey through Singapore’s culinary heritage, reimagined through the eyes of a child. It was a reminder of the simple joys of play and the rich tapestry of our local culture.
We’re already looking forward to our next visit to The Artground, eager to see what imaginative world awaits us next!
Little Notes
Book in advance: Slots are released on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month for upcoming sessions. It’s advisable to book early, especially for weekends and holidays, as spots can fill up quickly. Booking is done through their website.
Entry to The Artground is now chargeable: At Goodman Arts Centre, it’s $5 per person on weekdays, and $8 per child / $5 per adult on weekends, public holidays, and school holidays. These fees are non-refundable, and this is considered an Explore ticket.
Programme + Explore tickets: If you’re attending a scheduled programme (like a storytelling session or craft workshop), booking a Programme + Explore ticket grants you access to both the programme and the arts space. So, there’s no need to purchase a separate entry ticket.
Bring socks! It’s a shoes-off play space, so socks are a must for both kids and adults.
Great for ages 1 to 6: The space is ideal for toddlers and preschoolers—there’s enough room to roam but it’s still manageable for parents to supervise without feeling overstretched.
Location & vibes: The Artground is located within Goodman Arts Centre, which is peaceful, green and stroller-friendly. There’s also Café Melba nearby, which is extremely kids-friendly. Expect bouncy castles on weekends, so you can even have brunch there after your session.
