A Staycay at Shangri-La Singapore

Returning to the Shangri-La Singapore for our second family staycation felt like a heartfelt reunion, this time with the baby of the family, YB. Our previous stay with J as a baby had left us with cherished memories, making it an easy decision to come back.

Shangri-La Singapore truly excels in creating a welcoming environment for families. From the moment we arrived, J was invited to participate in the check-in process by filling out a special form. It was such a fun and thoughtful touch that made her feel valued and involved!

Really appreciate how family-friendly Shangri-La is. There is a Family Concierge service, assisting with any family-specific requests throughout the stay. We asked for a high chair, cot and bottle warmer, and they were both in the room upon check-in.

For this stay, we took the Playcation Package, and added on a Picnic activity. We stayed in the Garden Wing Deluxe Family Terrace Room, which had a private outdoor garden access. This serene outdoor space became the perfect setting for an intimate family picnic.

We laid out a cozy blanket on the lush greenery just outside our room, and we enjoyed our picnic amidst the tranquil surroundings. It was quite hot, so having the convenience of this semi-private garden allowed us to seamlessly transition between indoor comfort and outdoor enjoyment.

J couldn’t wait to go to the Splash Zone with her unicorn float. This is an expansive 1,300-square-meter water playground designed for families, featuring six unique play areas, including lazy rivers, vertical slides, water sprouts, jet cannons and shallow wading pools.

J spent hours exploring every corner of this water playground. She floated around on her unicorn and went on the slide countless times! YB, too enjoyed quietly, cautiously soaking in the shallow pool. As parents, watching J and YB revel in the water play was such a rewarding experience!

Playtime at buds by Shangri-La, the hotel’s interactive play space for children, was included in our package. This expansive facility offers a variety of themed activity spaces designed to engage young minds through creative, self-directed play.

J was particularly captivated by the Muddy room, an art studio within buds dedicated to budding artists, while YB mostly stayed within the Toddler Zone, a safe and stimulating area filled with age-appropriate play structures, like mini slides and a ball pit.

Our 2D1N stay was filled with so many memorable moments, and we look forward to our next family getaway!

Stars on Orchard Road brings readers into the magic of Christmas in Singapore, where Orchard Road glows with festive lights and sparkling stars. Through a young child’s eyes, the story captures simple holiday rituals — strolling under the lights, soaking in the excitement, and sharing the season with family.

When I first picked up this book, it brought back memories of my own childhood — strolling along Orchard Road during Christmas. Now, I do the same walk with my kids. This picture book is a warm, celebratory read that captures a uniquely Singaporean Christmas — one that has grown into a tradition of its own, and one that can now be passed down, page by page, to the next generation.
